In our latest roofing project, we tackled a commercial building with an aging roof system that had served its purpose but reached the end of its lifespan. The existing roof was an Acrylic Roof Coating over Foam, with two layers providing insulation and protection over the years.
After a thorough inspection, it was clear that the existing coating had reached the end of its lifespan. The roof’s performance was compromised, necessitating a replacement to ensure the building’s continued protection and energy efficiency.
We opted for a High Solids Silicone Coating as the new roofing system. This choice provides several advantages, including superior durability, UV resistance, and waterproofing capabilities. High Solids Silicone Coatings are known for their excellent performance in various weather conditions, making them an ideal solution for commercial roofs.
Before applying the new silicone coating, we identified and addressed areas where water had been absorbed into the existing foam layers. These sections were meticulously extracted and repaired to ensure a smooth and effective application of the new roof coating. This critical step ensures that the new roof will have a solid foundation, free from moisture-related issues.
The transformation from an Acrylic Roof Coating over Foam to a High Solids Silicone Coating has significantly enhanced the roof’s performance and longevity.
