SPF Roof Re-Coated with Silicone for Enhanced Durability
In our latest commercial roofing project, we undertook the challenge of restoring a SPF (Spray Polyurethane Foam) roofing system. The existing roof had two layers of protective SPF, providing excellent insulation and energy efficiency. However, recent hail damage compromised the integrity of the surface, making a re-coat necessary to maintain the roof's performance.
Hail impacts can create dents and punctures in the foam surface, allowing water infiltration if left untreated. Additionally, areas of ponding water had developed, which could lead to further damage over time. Addressing these issues promptly was crucial to ensure the long-term durability of the roofing system.
During the inspection, we noted areas with significant ponding water, which led us to select a silicone product for the re-coat. Silicone's superior performance and warranty against ponding water made it the ideal choice. The new coating sealed existing damage, addressed these problem areas, and provided enhanced UV resistance, extending the roof’s lifespan and ensuring long-term protection against weather elements.
For this restoration, we selected a silicone roof coating as the ideal solution. Silicone coatings are known for their superior UV resistance and ability to handle standing water, making them perfect for this application. The new coating effectively seals any imperfections caused by the hail and creates a smooth, watertight surface over the entire roof.
By applying the silicone coating, we not only restored the roof’s protective capabilities but also enhanced its durability against future weather events. The seamless finish provided by silicone ensures that the roof can withstand extreme temperatures and resist further ponding water, keeping the building safe and dry.
This project is a great example of how strategic restoration can extend the life of an existing roof, even after significant damage. With the new silicone coating in place, our client can be confident that their roof is well-prepared to handle whatever Mother Nature has in store.
